NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from June 12 through June 18.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A summons was issued to a vehicle in a no-parking zone during school drop-off hours at Little Sprouts by the Sea around 9 a.m. June 12.
  • A man was yelling at Lewis Oliver Farm Sanctuary staff on June 12. An older man asked if the farm rescued ducks. When an employee said no and explained they are not a rescue center, the man became enraged and began yelling and complaining that they should be a rescue center, police said. The man left before the employee could give him recommendations of where to get help.
  • A summons was issued to someone who had parked on the sidewalk of Bayview Avenue on June 12. An officer was told by an employee of the registered owner that the vehicle was to be moved shortly. "The owner was given ample enough time to return to the vehicle and have it moved, but failed to do so," police said.
  • A vehicle became disabled on Fort Salonga Road on June 14. Police helped move the vehicle into a parking lot.
  • A woman was reportedly locked in the bathroom of Tim's Shipwreck Diner on June 14. She was able to get out of the bathroom by the time police arrived.
  • A Norwood Avenue man reported a fraudulent Verizon bill to police on June 15. The man told police he got a bill from Verizon for cell phones he did not purchase. The man said he froze all his accounts and didn't lose any money. He contacted Verizon, and the business told him to file a police report.
  • A male was driving a kid on an ATV with no helmet on Lisa Drive on June 15. Police warned him not to drive in the street.
  • A boat engine was reported stolen from Scudder Park on June 16.
  • A man was reportedly rummaging through a vehicle around 4:40 a.m. June 17 on Garfield Street. A man told police he woke to a loud noise coming from the back of his home, and from his bedroom window, he saw a man going through his 2008 Toyota that was parked on the driveway. The man verbally confronted the man, who then ran in an unknown direction. The man was unable to provide any additional description of the man rummaging through his car. Nothing was stolen from the Toyota. Police advised the man to make sure he secures his cars.
  • Someone was rummaging through a vehicle on Hilton Avenue around 4:40 a.m. June 17. Police saw a 2021 Subaru that had been rummaged through. The woman who owns the car said nothing was stolen.
  • Someone was rummaging through a vehicle on Clairmont Street around 4:40 a.m. June 17. Police saw a car that had been rummaged through. The woman who owns the car said nothing was stolen.
  • A vehicle was rummaged through on Hilton Avenue around 6 a.m. June 17.
  • A vehicle had been rummaged through overnight on Garfield Street. A woman told police her son's vehicle was parked and unlocked in front of the home. When the woman went out to the vehicle around 1:30 p.m., she discovered the vehicle door open and papers thrown around. The woman said no items were stolen.
  • A woman said a man spit on her car at Municipal Lot #2 on Woodbine Avenue on June 17. The woman told police she was involved in an argument over a parking space when a man spit, flipped her the middle finger, called her a name, and spat on her car. Police found the man's car but couldn't find the man.
  • A Steers Avenue homeowner was warned and admonished because of loud music at 10:20 p.m. June 17.
  • A woman was yelling and throwing items outside of Robke's Country Inn just before 10 a.m. June 18. The woman told police she was frustrated that employees within a deli were not being tipped for their services. She agreed to leave the area.
  • A brown and white dog that got loose on Dolphin Lane was quickly reunited with its owner on June 18.
  • A driver flagged police down on Woodbine Avenue on June 18. A pedestrian told police that a car was sideswiped by another car. The driver of the other car stayed at the scene.
  • A man was riding a motorcycle without a plate on Main Street on June 18, but police could not find him.
  • A female was reportedly yelling and causing a disturbance at Steers Beach on June 18. Police saw her swimming in the water off the beach. She was not causing a disturbance, police said, but an officer told her to leave the area because she did not have a beach permit. She agreed to leave.
